Finance Advisory Committee
In May, 2011, the Board of Selectmen established an Advisory Finance Committee whose purpose is to make fiscal recommendations to the Board focusing on the best value for the Townspeople.
The Committee, while having no decision-making authority, may review financial matters which are outside the role/purview of the CIP. As needed, they will collaborate/cooperate with the activities of the CIP.
At the request of the Board of Selectmen, review and recommendations may address such areas as salaries for Town employees, elected and appointed officials, and benefit packages; purchases over $500.00; group purchasing across departments and with neighboring Towns; software support and communications bundling; weekly vs. biweekly payroll; and other areas as requested by the Board of Selectmen. They will meet quarterly with the Department Heads and as necessary with the Selectmen.
Through the committees participation, knowledge and experience, we hope to improve credibility and transparency as part of their comprehensive review of expenditures along with potential savings for the town.
Committee members:
Carl Belz
Kim Cowles
Jack Kennedy
Jeff Woodward
